1,000 Subscribers + Personal Update!

Glen / 35 Comments / February 18th, 2009 / Subscribe via RSS

Checking my blog stats, I see that PluginID has now reached over 1,000 subscribers (this fluctuates so you may not see it). If you are reading this via feed reader or in your inbox, thank you! I can’t tell you how much it means to me to reach such a milestone, especially in a community I’m so passionate about and one that allows me to write about what I love.

Many of you may not know, but the message of being who you want to be and living the life you want to live is also my journey. I’m not a guru, I never will be, in fact…I don’t even want to be. But what I do want to be is honest, authentic and committed to fulfilling my own potential while helping others realise their own.

If I’m truly honest, the journey to 1,000 subscribers has taken quite a lot longer than I would have liked. Being a successful internet marketer for the last 3 years, I thought I might be able to speed up the process a little. Not that this has put me off, I’m enjoying the challenge. The 1,000 reader milestone now means I’m starting to enter the league and awareness of some of my favourite blogs and some of the biggest in the world.

Thank You!

Honestly, i don’t think I can say thank you enough. Thank you to:

  • Everyone who has left a comment over the last few months
  • Anyone that has linked here from their own sites
  • Anybody who emailed me in appreciation for my content
  • Anyone that helped send traffic via social media sites
  • Anyone who has subscribed to the feed
  • Most of all: thanks to anyone who doesn’t think I can do this full time, you are my inspiration :)

I know I may be treating this a little like a Bafta nomination, but hopefully that shows how passionate I am about the site and its growth. For those of you that haven’t subscribed, you can click on this link and subscribe in Firefox / Bloglines / Google Reader or any other feed reader. For those who prefer to get posts in their email inbox, click here.

Quick Pics of Me

I received a message from one of our most active commenters recently, Denise (I wish she would share her website), about being more personal and sharing some photos from my life and my journey. If you are going to take advice from me, then you need to know that I’m actually living out my own ‘words of wisdom’.

Whether it is becoming abundant with women, friends, finances, happiness, or just doing things I feel like doing (random dancing), I’m trying to improve in all areas of my life.

(Note: If you hover over the images you should get a description of them in tooltip form)

My Current Journey

If any of you are interested in what I’m doing right now, I’m more than happy to share. I’m currently back in the UK after 16 crazy months in South Africa. I’m still getting used to the snow and the drastic change of pace in my life. For now, I am working from home and literally putting in 14 hour days to make earning online my permanent situation (some of you may have seem the crazy number of guest posts I’m doing).

PluginID is my number one passion in terms of online projects, I’m just not sure I can make the income from the site a liveable source in the next few months without becoming an ad billboard (which I would never do). Therefore, I am working on some other projects but dedicating as much time here as possible.

This is something I really don’t like asking but sometimes you have to let your pride take the back seat. You may have noticed I put up a paypal donate button in the right hand side of the site. If any of you could spare some cash in order to help me continue on this journey I would be forever grateful. I actually earn very little from the site and although money is not my primary reason for writing, I would love to be able to survive from the income. (Of course, donations are completely optional)

With everything summed up, life is going well. I had some exciting family news I would love to share but that would be a bit too personal for now, and I’m happy in all areas. There are things I definitely need to work on, but if you know anything about me by now, I started on them yesterday.

Thanks again to you all, you rock!

If you enjoyed this post, I would appreciate if you share it on Twitter, Facebook or Delicious!

Hey Glen! Congratulations on reaching 1K subscribers! I still remember the time when you sold your blog! hahaha. Good thing you were able to buy it back somehow. Keep up the good work. You and your blog will always be an inspiration for me.

Comment by Glen

Thank you Raymond, haha yes I did. That is something I want to post about one day when my site hits the ‘big league’. How one stage I actually sold it because I didn’t think I could make anything of it ;)

Thanks for that reminder, and your comments as always!

Glen, once again well-done, but I was wondering why don’t you put “recent comments” and “recent articles” plus “most popular articles” in the sidebar. Just a suggestion from me Adam±

Comment by Glen

Hey Adam, hope Africa is treating you well. One day I might, but for now I like how things are. Appreciate the suggestion though.

Thanks Adam, I’ll have to give some link love back.

I noticed you followed me on Twitter and from there I landed on your website. Please accept my heartiest congratulation on reaching the 1000 subscribers point. I’m always excited to see someone who believes in personal development and succeeds at it because one can not succeed in this niche unless one is authentic. Glad to know you and I will be visiting your blog often.

One more thing…don’t worry about “you should have done it earlier than today” stuff. You could have gotten 10,000 untargeted subscribers if you’d have used so called “techniques” that any savvy internet marketer knows, including myself. But guess what I’d prefer your 1000 really interested, targeted subscribers to 10,000 who are not that interested. So celebrate them, love them and give them REAL value for the TIME they spend on your blog and you’ll reach the 10,000 point way before than you can imagine. Authenticity is the best viral marketing I know of.

Way to go Glen.

Comment by Glen

Hey Sunny, thanks a lot!

I’m trying my best to be as authentic as possible, my own transformations and developments in ‘not caring what people think’ have definitely helped on that side of things.

Great points, thanks again!

I enjoy this blog. Congratulations on attaining over a thousand subscribers. No small accomplishment.

Cheers Bamboo, and thanks for all your comments along the way!

Congrats Glen, this is quite an accomplishment in such a short time frame. BTW Your post links on the right sidebar look awesome!

Comment by Glen

Thanks Alex, I put them live today. Tomorrow I’m going to see how they look with the usual black bar as a friend said they are hard to read.

I think they are useful, and I think they will increase pageviews aswell :)

Let me add my congrats onto the (growing!) pile. It’s amazing what happens when you provide something people are looking for!

I really do not recall how I stumbled across your blog, is a good blog though and worth reading-one of the rare few that doesn’t have anything to do with gossip, celebrity, gaming or general geeky things.
Keep up the good work.

Congrats buddy! And thanks for the link :D
