72 Hours Until the Launch of ‘Cloud Living’

Glen / 52 Comments / July 10th, 2009 / Subscribe via RSS

I wrote the introduction of this blog post 4 times before I settled with what you’re reading right now. I found no elegant way to explain how nervous and excited I am at the same time. Instead I took the not-so-professional approach and decided to tell you that I had no idea what to say. The only thing that really matters here, is the title.

There are 72 hours until my first premium product through PluginID launches. In part, I’ve been working on this project for months by releasing mini guides which received both good and bad feedback. I then incorporated this into a finished version. I’ve conducted interviews with some of the brightest minds and I’ve dug deep inside to make sure I pull out something that I only want to refer to as….incredible.

I haven’t seen my friends much lately. In fact, when I think about it, I haven’t seen anyone much lately. The only person who I’ve been communicating with is my copywriter. I go to sleep thinking about this product and I wake up thinking about it. It has literally been on my mind 24/7 for the last few weeks.

It’s amazing how many things there are to do when you map out a product launch. That’s probably why my house looks like a crash site. I have pieces of paper all over the floors, empty cans of red bull around my desk and eyes that sting so much I’m sure they’re going to jump out of their sockets and desert me.

Thankfully, it’s almost over.

And I’m proud. I’m proud of what I have been able to create. Even if nobody purchases this thing on Monday, I’m just glad to look at it and say “Hey, I made this.”

What We Are Dealing With

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about when I mention Cloud Living then listen up. At the start of this year I quit my job to work for myself full-time. I’ve been self-employed for 5 months now and I’m earning 5 times what I was in my previous job.

I didn’t set up some offline shop or create a lemonade stand chain; instead, I make all of my income online. I’m happy to tell people this but because the ‘make money online’ market is thought of as devious, I don’t really like to mention what I do. My new favourite phrase the lifestyle I live, is Cloud Living. The use of web services is referred to as using ‘the cloud’ and I also think the name creates images of freedom and expression. This, coincidentally, is actually how I live: free from both boss and location while being able to do whatever I like.

Cloud Living is a product I’ve created to realistically help anyone leave the rat race and live the life they want to live. It’s a product that shows you exactly how I made a 5-figure income online and how I grew this blog to 4,000 subscribers in less than a year. The product specfics are made up of the following:

  • A 177-page eBook
  • 6 tutorial videos (ranging from 4 minutes to 10 minutes)
  • 1 Free Website Template
  • An 8-page instructional guide

This is by far the biggest product I have ever created and without a doubt the one I’m most confident will help change lives.

Two Paths

What I most like (yes, I’m biased) about this guide is that it doesn’t say you have to do this or you have to do that. There isn’t even a ‘set’ way of making money. Instead, this guide is all about turning your passion into pounds (or dollars).

There are two paths in the guide: one which utilises blogging as a way to make money, the other utilising affiliate Minisites as a way to make money. The great thing about either of these is that you really can put your own mark on them and use them to focus on things you actually care about.

There are a few rules like…you know…actually taking action and not just reading the guide, but a lot of what is contained is completely down to your own choosing. After all, there’s no point in making money online if you’re not passionate about what you’re doing.

72 Hours

“So yeah, 72 hours, why are you telling us?”

The first reason I’m telling you is so you realise I’ve been dedicating a lot of time to this product which resulted in my scarcity around here. The second reason is because there is a special bonus for those who are quick to the mark on Monday.

Remember: this is my first ever premium product released on PluginID. It has taken me over 11 months to release something, simply because I want to be known for putting out quality information and not just any old rubbish.

Typically, products of this size go for around $70-$100 and I had thought of pricing this guide somewhere in between. I know this would eliminate a lot of people from being able to buy it, but I also knew that those who did purchase would probably be in the mindset where they’re ready to succeed.

All I’m going to say is that the final price has ended up way, way less than that. And, as a way to get the product even cheaper, I’m knocking off just less than 30% of the price to the first 50 customers. Basically, if you get here as soon as possible on Monday with the intention of buying this, you’ll save yourself a bit of cash.

I hope you’re as excited as I am.

If you enjoyed this post, I would appreciate if you share it on Twitter, Facebook or Delicious!

Wooooohooo:)
Man I’m so excited for this guide to come out. I’d buy it even if it did cost $100 because I know your stuff is for real.

Im kind of finding my feet when it comes to online marketing and blogging (a lot of it thanks to your guides and articles) and starting to see a small pickup in my sales.

Going to study your new guide front to back and apply the methods so I can make a living online!

Congrats that you completed such an awesome task man:)

Hey Diggy!

I won’t make anyone pay $100, don’t worry. I won’t even ask people for half of that.

I’ve definitely noticed your blog improve dramatically since working with you and know you’ll go on to more success :)

Thanks!

Diggy,
Nice site (just subscribed :) )! I suggest you grab Skellie’s Simple Web if you haven’t already, I find the strategies underlined in it extremely valuable – I’ve made it my Bible :D

Of course I’m impatient to see the reception of Glen’s ebook…

This is awesome Glen! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you :) I’m confident your hard work will pay off. Good luck!

Comment by Glen

Thank you Samar!

I’m very interested to see how the product ‘goes down’ with the audience here. I really don’t know what to expect since I’ve never launched a premium product.

Comment by Javier

Definitely looking forward to this, I have a good feeling :)

One think I have to thank you much is making the product accesible (in terms of the price you are charging), I am not in a position of financial abundance right now, having to dedicate a lot of time to my studies.

Lots of luck with your release!

Comment by Glen

Dankie Javier, it’s nice to have your support!

It will be even cheaper if you get here earlier on Monday :)

Sounds exciting! And I know you’ll do great with this… or with a lemonade stand chain, if you decide to go that route.

I love this part of your post: “That’s probably why my house looks like a crash site. I have pieces of paper all over the floors, empty cans of red bull around my desk and eyes that sting so much I’m sure they’re going to jump out of their sockets and desert me.”

It makes you sound like a new mom. ;)

Glen,

Definitely looking forward to seeing the results of your labor. It might be best if I earned my money in pounds instead of dollars. Then I might be able to afford more than an apple next time I’m in London. Good luck with your launch.

Comment by Glen

Haha, thanks man. By the way, I also get paid in dollars ;)

Comment by Karol Gajda

Congrats Glen! Releasing a first product is exciting… I’d probably liken it to having a baby…although I haven’t had one. :) (But Lisis, in the comments, seems to think so too!)

Comment by Glen

Hey Karol

Nice to see you around here! Haha, I can relate to that, that’s pretty much how I feel as well!

Hell Glen!

you got me! Even though I personally think it’s not possible to “copy” someone else’s success story, I’m glad you share yours with us. There’s always a chance to learn something new – and poeple like you show that it’s worth to be perseverant to achieve a goal.

When will you be releasing it? I wanna be sure to be one of the first 50 – since I live in Nuremberg, Germany, I need to know the time to add one hour.

Will it be at 00:00 GMT?

Hope to see many people buying it!

Congratulations

Ricardo

It will be 10:00 GMT

Comment by Audrey

Hi Glen! This is exciting! I stumbled onto your blog a little over 4 months ago while I was writing a fiction book. I know, it’s far from personal development. But I was in need of inspiration of some sort to declutter and tackle writer’s block. After arriving at your front doorstep, I don’t ever want to leave. LOL. You share great content that applies in areas I never thought twice about.

I downloaded your eBook: Blueprint when you first released it. I’ve taken a liking to it and followed it to set up my pet project. Thanks again! I look forward to the release of Cloud Living.

Comment by Glen

Hey Audrey, it’s great to hear that kind of feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to say that and you’re very welcome!

Comment by John Bardos

Hi Glen,

I just read your free ebook, Blogging Blueprint not more than an hour ago and I found it top notch. I actually found the first section the most valuable. Your personally experiences are far more interesting than the how to blogging information.

Count me in on the new book. Any chance of getting in on the first 50 deal now. I will pay in advance. :-)

Comment by Glen

Hey John, if you wish, feel free to send me an email and I’ll send you the payment link :)

I’m really thrilled for you Glen. I so can’t wait for your newest project launch. I’m confident it will be a success for you as well. Any chance of a pre-sale or a pre-official launch? Had to ask, just couldn’t help myself, you know.

Cheers to you!

Hey Denise,

If you send me an email I’ll see what I can do ;)

Thanks for your support

Okay, you’re kind of a life saver I just want you to know. A friend sent me a link to one of your posts about living in the moment and I’ve been reading through your entire site. Going through some heavy ‘new’ stuff in my life and it’s been quite overwhelming to say the least. Sometimes no amount of talking to anyone can help because honestly a lot of people have no answers when it comes to the big questions. Learning to find your own answers within yourself seems to really be key to finding peace, and this is what you are presenting. Practical, useful tips to figuring shit out for yourself.

Thank you… really, thank you!

PS. What sign are you if I may ask?

Comment by Glen

Hey Emma!

You’re welcome, I’m just glad I could help.

Glenn,

Looking forward to seeing more about Cloud Living on Monday.

Quick question – the free template that is being offered. It is different than the one offered in your case study, right?

Thanks and congratulations on your success.

Neal

Comment by Glen

Hey Neal

Nope, the template is the same. As I mention in the guide, my plan was to create a WordPress theme. The reason I did this was because the problems people have with it would be the same as they would have for WordPress.

Therefore, I decided to improve my instruction videos on editing the template so people can edit it more easily. There are some nice additions though :)

Glen,

Let me tell everything that “Cloud Living” will be dynamite–and I say that as the person who did a light edit, so I’ve already read it! I will also be putting many of your suggestions to good use myself.

“Cloud Living” is an easy to understand guide to set up the sites and then build readership for blogs or minisites–even for those who might be “technically challenged”–and the additional resources you are including make it that much more valuable to readers.

As you know, we never spoke about your pricing plans–and I am very surprised it will be so modestly priced. Anyone who is thinking about it should jump on the site on Monday morning to take advantage of the discount, too. Still, it is easily worth far more than you are planning to charge for it.

I hardly think you’ll need luck to make this a runaway success–but good luck anyway–and thanks for the opportunity to work on it with you.

Comment by Karen

Sooo exciting, Glen!! Congrats. :) I’m so happy for you… I feel like I’ve watched your blog grow, even in the past few months… and now your first product release! And I’m excited for me.. a new guide! I just hope that 50 people haven’t bought it by the time I get up here in the good ‘ol US… as you are set to release it 3am my time! Can’t wait to read it, and get new inspiration. I hope you sell a million copies on Monday… you deserve all the success in the world. :D

Hey Glen! Congratulations – I’m pretty sure that this product will be a great success for you, based on your track record before that and the terrific job you are doing currently. I look forward to seeing things unfold from here on! ;)

Comment by graeme
