Being "present"(the "gift" of life) in my experience is something which is "harnessed" through lifes journey, with all external circumstance and noise comes the challenge of honing such a skill as being present in the moment. But once you "connect" to the present then you free yourself of past and future events and live in the realm of egoless nature, the energy I have experienced from this is limitless in that moment.

Chris, we can encourage people to "be present now" but a more powerful example is to "be" the example. Then there is no need to "encourage", people become "inquisitive" when they see someone who lives there lives entirely in the now.

Theres a saying about an old sage who practises meditation up in the hills for most of his life and when he decides to come down to teach in the valleys he ends up being bitter angry and annoyed, thats because "lifes lessons" come like curve balls, all shapes and unexpected and that's where honing the skills of meditation and being present are put to the test, practise practise and practise some more because the hardest of challenges "present" the greatest reward..

That's tough; I know exactly what that feels like. Very frustrating. Usually, that kind of experience happens just before something changes - not necessarily on its own, but a change (large or small) you put in motion.

If you don't feel like meditating, don't. Remember to play; have some fun. Take a break from the doubt and do something for yourself that you enjoy. Purchase new music that you like or buy a new piece of clothing - bring some fresh energy in. Treat yourself to large latte. You'll get a taste of some positive energy again and get back on track, only better.

I have done meditation in the past and it was great, I stopped as I always stop at the wrong time. I can never continue anything until the end. Lately I've been feeling very doubtful about so many areas of my life. I don't want to meditate, I pray for answers and nothing is happening. I don't understand it. I'm sure its because I feel sad and not aligned with what it is I want, but I can't seem to get back to feeling right again. Just venting. Thanks.

I loved what you said about meditation. I've meditated off and on over the last 9 years, and saw benefits right from the get-go. More recently, I've been doing some 15 or 20 minute sessions a few times a day and have seen great benefit.

I believe what meditation does is simply bring in awareness - aka Light, Knowledge, God, Love, etc. And once you're in that space, you notice things you never noticed before, especially in regards to your own thoughts or emotions. Meditating, for me, is reconnecting with who I am. It's like opening a valve.

Hi, Nice post :)
I try to meditate, just sitting on the floor, smiling and not thinking of anything, but I CAN'T. I set my alarm for 10 minutes and say to myself, just sit still for ten minutes, but I can't. And I'm not even one of those people who are always on the move, I'm quite lazy. I've been told that I fidget a lot, and maybe this is why I just can't sit still, I love the idea of meditation, and would really like to master it!!

I'm guilty, I have not meditated in a year and I was doing it religously through the CD by Wayne Dwyer, I was doing my AHHH and OMMMMs and I did find it worked, however, being me, I am just not disciplined enough to keep going. I was told when you get distracted and put off meditation it's changes occuring and that's the resistance that you need to fight and guess who one? Now I need to take it up again, 40 days, failure is not an option.
