How to Make Friends

Glen / 57 Comments / December 29th, 2008 / Subscribe via RSS

Over 40,000 people each month go to one of the major search engines and search for ‘How to Make Friends’ or a similar variation. With the focus of this website being about reaching and helping as many people as possible, I’ve been looking for common issues that I can help solve for the greater good.

Note that I would never simply write about something in order to get more visitors and nor would I offer advice on something I have no experience with unless I state that. In 2006 I went to college on my own at 16 and didn’t know one single person, 1 week later and I had a huge group of friends.

Note: If you are reading this in your RSS Reader or Inbox I advise you click through to the post

The same happened when I moved to Cape Town. I didn’t know one single person in the whole of South Africa yet now I’m going out 4 / 5 nights a week and have close to 100 phone numbers saved in my mobile. I’m not telling you this to brag, I’m telling you because I’ve applied the same fundamental ways to make friends every single time. This is timeless information that gets to the heart of why and how friendships develop and how you can get more friends in your life.

Free eBook

Because I’ve discovered there’s a great need on quality information on this subject I’ve decided to give away a free, 24-page eBook packed with information. I could have wrote a blog post on this but I wanted to go very detailed on the subject.

The contents of the eBook includes:

  • Exactly how I went from 0 Friends to Total Abundance
  • Core fundamentals you need to make friends
  • The exact mindset you need to adopt
  • What people really want in a friend
  • Why you should never change for anyone

You will never receive any spam and your email address will not be sold!

Once you enter your email address into the box you will have to confirm your subscription, to do that simply click on the verification email that you receive. Once that is done, you will have automatically subscribed to our RSS feed where there is a link in the bottom of all posts.

If you are already subscribed to our RSS feed you should see a link in the bottom which says ‘Freebies‘ and that will take you to the eBook download page. It may take us to make another blog post before this updates in your inbox or RSS reader.

To be even more specific, here is what you will learn:

  • How to find your Core Values
  • How to work our your Passion / What You Love
  • How to Make Friends Online
  • How to Make Friends in College
  • and much more…

Awesome guide Glen, it is so much more than just a guide about making friends as well. It is a useful guide for many things in life.

There is definitely a lot of value in this, so it’s certainly worth reading through and it is well written with useful background and personal experience. The only thing I would critique is that some of the examples are specific to certain people’s interests. Night clubs might work for one person but be useless to the next if that is not an area of interest for them. So, I think it would be useful to list a lot of other options in your guide as places to put some of the same techniques into place.

Anyway, great guide, I’ll definitely stumble it and hope that helps promote it!

Hi Mike

It is a useful guide for many things in life.

Thank you for noticing that, In my spare time I’m putting all these core principles that I find which apply to make things and seeing if they all work together. Hence why I wanted to put something like this together as it works but it’s also not what people are familiar with for this topic.

I’ll definitely come up with some more areas and put those in, thanks for the stumble & comment!

Cheers,
Glen

I’ve been a reader of this blog for some months, just thought of dropping by to comment.

I downloaded the eBook and I liked it.
“The absolute worst thing to do to make friends is change who you are.” So true. I liked that :)

I think you wrote the “Making Friends Online” in a hurry. I found it somewhat little below the mark comparing it with the other sections in the book for some reason.

Glen, good job overall.

I’ll stay subscribed :)

Comment by Glen

Hi Shankar,

I’ve seen you around here a lot and appreciate all the support. Do you have any suggestions for that section of the eBook? I’m going to work on improving it a little today because my main aim is always to improve the lives of readers and keep everyone happy :)

Cheers,
Glen

Well, nothing much but that Facebook thing was kind of too basic to me. I mean a lot of people use it, so why mention? You should have mentioned blogging otherwise. Not many people blog.

Comment by Glen

Hmm, I guess there are 2 possible responses to that.

1 being that facebook was mentioned because it is obvious, it wouldn’t make sense for a guide not to have it there.

As far as blogging I didn’t think of that one. I even attended an event recently where I got to meet up with loads of fellow bloggers.

I’ll definitely add a section on blogging now

Thank you Shankar!

Comment by Shankar Ganesh

Yeah, you’re welcome. Thanks for taking in my suggestion :)

Great stuff, as usual Glen. I liked what I read and I personally use some of these strategies.

If you haven’t noticed, there are many typos. It is not big deal, just wanted to let you know.

Adam,

Comment by Glen

Hmm, maybe I’ll run it through Word, I didn’t notice perfectly but I’m not a fan of the Open Office spell checker

Thanks man

Comment by Glen

Hi Adam, I just went through it all and still don’t see any typos. Can you give some examples?

Are you talking about when I use an ‘s’ instead of a ‘z’ i.e. realise? That’s an english thing…

Glen,

Your e-book guide is wonderful and I enjoyed your
article and picture of South Africa.

Will you be writing a book about your experiences there? I’m sure there is a market for it.

My best to you for the future. It seems you really have learned a lot in your young life. You are amazing!

Thanks for sharing.
You website is great too. One section of your website with the listing of personal development under
Zen is very interestint and I am looking to purchase some of the authors books on it. I did send the link of your site to my friend and did a track back I believe on one of my domain site of the 4,ooo plus article.
Glad you’re back safe!

This is is good for prudent person and for intellectual learning no one is perfect and needs friends for ideas .

We also needs to filter between good friends and bad friends
