The Most Inspiring Video You’ll Watch This Year

I’m not usually one to simply do a post highlighting a video I seen around the web, but when I came across this on Facebook, I knew I had to pass it around. Not only does this mimic the message I’ve been eminating from this site since launch, but it also managed to make me cry…a little bit ;).

When I first started passing it around to my friends via MSN, they all genuinly thanked me just for sending them the link, I’m sure a few of them were emotional as well. To me, this is exactly what life is about – following your own path and inspiring others to do the same along the way.

I advise you to watch it and just take note of everything that is going on. Hold no judgements in your mind, just enjoy it.

When I seen this on Facebook I just had to work out how to download it from the site. Eventually I figured it out, converted it into AVI format and uploaded it onto Youtube (afterwards realising it was already there). I added the ending credits so you can see how this applies directly to the message I want to share on this site.

What I love about the video:

  • It shows how one person really can inspire thousands of others, autism or no autism
  • Everyone but the other team GENUINELY wanted him to do well
  • You see the magical feeling he must have experienced which I’ll cover more in the future
  • It’s a very obvious portrayal of being who you want to be and living the life you want to live

I hope it inspired you all as much as it did to me. This is exactly what I see in the world, this passion, the determination, the possibilities and the genuine, authentic side of all people. I’m going to be posting more videos like this to our new Youtube Account so if you’re a member then please subscribe (yellow button on the right).

If you enjoyed this post, I would appreciate if you share it on Twitter, Facebook or Delicious!

OK, you got me! I started watching this expecting the usual American over sentimentality……..and finished with a tear in my eye.

Bet the coach wished he’d played him earlier in the season!

Definitely, he had never played a varsity basketball game in his life, I was watching his interviews on some of the major TV shows after this.

I’ve seen this video before. It put tear in my eye the first time, and it did it to me again. It’s like a basketball version of “Rudy”.

I haven’t seen / heard of Rudy (possibly showing my age). I’ll have to check it out!

I was so moved by this that I had to share on my blog also. What an inspiration for us all. If we as adults could be more like this young man, being happy with who we are, the world would be a much better place.
Thank you for sharing, and glad that I have a feed to Plugin.

An extremely inspiring video. I’ve read somewhere that all great sports player, when they are “in the moment”, are technically autistic. I don’t remember exactly why but that short clip made me remember that part of the book.

Maybe the reason why he play such good basketball is BECAUSE he has autistic. There are several extraordinary geniuses who are autistic.

There’s a guy who have extraordinary photo-memory and the guy who can mentally calculate up to 16 decimal places. They are both autistic. And I’m sure you can think up of more examples.

Very possible Andre, although I’m sure hes been practicing pretty much daily for the last few years.

There’s some amazing qualities that tend to reside in Autistic people, I guess we’ll never fully know why (for certain, anyways). I remember watching a documentary about the guy with photo-memory, very interesting.

Thanks for your comment

See, this is what happens when you don’t treat and groom a “special” person to be “special.” This is what happens when a kid with some sort of disability is treated like other people, and doesn’t have the disease drilled into their head as something that will hold them back.
