Somewhere along the line we went from these peaceful, happy, care-free apes to humans with problems, standards and people to impress. In my mind, all of this stems from the ego and as our intelligence grew and species evolved - tools we used for survival such as our minds started to take over and control our thoughts and actions rather than just being a tool.
